In every home I’ve lived in I’ve had an outdoor space to spend summer days and nights in. It’s something I can’t live without. This past fall we painted the exterior of our home (here) and now I’m feeling like the front porch could use some refreshing.
I’m most drawn to the classics of blue and white and the comfort of rattan for the warm season. What do you like to incorporate into your outdoor living?
The Pink Pagoda’s Blue and White Bash is today. Hop over for some B+W inspiration!
In the Dec/Jan issue of House Beautiful, they featured designer, Michelle Nussbaumer’s bed (full interview here.) If you know anything about MN, you know she is no stranger to bold. Her bedroom boasts a stunning array of fabrics ranging from Schumacher’s ikat to antique saris. And I’m completely torn on how I feel about it. It’s a beautiful example of layering pattern and bold color. I just don’t know that I could fall asleep in here, and it’s not because of her furry friends, holy crap those dog paws are bigger than her head!
This has been such a cold and sleepy winter for me I could probably use the jolt of pattern to wake me in the morning.
What’s your bedroom MO? Bold and bright or soft and subtle?

I love this time of year when we switch our focus from summer parties to cozy gatherings. The warm oranges, tans and wood tones of the autumnal season just beg us to decorate our table with complementary blue and white schemes. Together they make an irresistibly welcoming combination that I’m dying to try out this year in my dining decor.
Now that Halloween is over, have you shifted your focus to Thanksgiving? I absolutely love the idea of having silhouettes of your guests laid out at their plate as a place marker. I can’t imagine how much time that would take, but it would make for an unbelievable memento. Don’t forget all those gourds and miniature pumpkins make great Thanksgiving decor, so don’t toss them yet! You’ll want the orange to help amplify your blue.
And since I’ve mentioned blue and white, now is the perfect time to introduce to you Jennifer of The Pink Pagoda, Queen of all things blue and white. So if you want some more inspirational blue and white images for your fall decor head on over (here) and visit her Blue + White Bash!
