THE WEEKENDER: Mexmas A New Tradition
What a whirlwind this weekend was! We celebrated our newest family holiday, Mexmas and my little sis’s birthday, the big 2-9 (Last year of the 20′s babe!) Mexmas, in case you are wondering is when we get Bryan’s side of the family together for Christmas a month late and eat Mexican food. It all makes sense now! (Yes we like to create holidays, we also celebrate Smithmas, where we Smiths get together before Christmas and eat the family’s secret recipe lasagna and exchange gifts.)
Poor Norrie also has a serious case of cabin fever. Due to the super low temps we’ve been inside more than usual. But she insisted, so we went out walking and she could not have been happier. Look at that smile! How could you deny her a walk in the snow?!
Jumping to Sunday, we hiked it up to Columbus to see my little sis for her 29th birthday. (Ahh to still be in my twenties.) We had breakfast at this delightful little place called North Star Cafe. Norrie and her cousin got some quality time together while my little sis and I got to sneak away for a bit (woo!) She wanted to take me out for a proper cup of espresso after hearing about my disappointing first espresso experience (who could forget?? they served it in a paper cup instead of a adorable mini cup.) Luckily today she ordered a cappuccino, while I ordered an espresso. Why luckily you ask?? because I took one sip of that “proper” espresso and about spit it out! IT WAS STRONG! (adorable in it’s mini cup, but strong) This espresso wasn’t messing around, go big or go home! I unfortunately opted to go home and drank her cappuccino. Turns out I really enjoy cappuccino which is great news for me. After 7 months of sipping coffees with no avail I found one I could finish and enjoy. I can’t tell you how exciting this is for me. So if you want a cupa joe, I’m your gal now.
How was your weekend?! Did you create any new holidays? Brave any new beverages? Get in some good QT with the fam?!

I had a blast Sunday, got a Vanilla Capp for breakfast today!
