DIY: Chandelier Makeover

January 24, 2013

I’m so excited about today’s post it’s a fun and super easy DIY chandelier makeover. Not too long ago my neighbors came to me and asked how to make their chandelier a bit more their style. They weren’t too big on the shape of the  fixture’s shades or the constant straightening they required. Here is the BEFORE of the chandelier.

We talked about altering the existing shade, buying new shades and even replacing the entire fixture. In the end we decided on removing the shades all together and replacing the flame shaped bulbs with round bulbs. I also suggested painting the white part of the fixture (the faux candles) black to blend in with the fixture and make it a bit more sleek.  The result is so fun! It really gives you an instant update. It literally takes five minutes to spray-paint these little pieces of plastic and they dry really quickly. And here is the AFTER!

They already  had the black spray paint so all they had to do was go out and buy the bulbs and spend a little time spraying. At about $3 per 2 bulbs the whole project ended up costing them nine dollars. It’s such a fun updated version of their chandelier. I especially love how the new round bulbs play on the round decorative touches to the chandelier.

Excellent blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any ideas? Appreciate it!

Thank you so much! I hope you stop by agin soon. My biggest recommendation is, just write! The more posts you create, the clearer your vision becomes. Everyone begins with 1 post. I like starting out with a free site like wordpress.com or blogger. You can always switch things up down the line as your vision becomes clearer. Good luck with everything!!
